Never, ever underestimate Republican Sen. Al D'Amato's instincts for political survival, or what he's willing to say or do to stay in office.

Even though this minute, he trails the Democrat, Chuck Schumer, in most polls and the momentum seems to have finally turned against Big Al.

Even though there are a dozen solid reasons why Al the Ethically Challenged should be thrown out of office on his fat wallet by citizens upstate and down.
