Vic: Teenage joyrider dies in road smash

A teenage joyrider has died when the car he was driving struck a pole in western Victoria.

Police say the 15-year-old boy lost control of the car .. which struck a power pole
on the Colac-Ballarat Road at Beeac .. near Colac .. 150 kilometres south-west of Melbourne
.. shortly after midnight (AEST).

The boy .. who was from Beeac .. died at the scene.

He was the sole occupant of the car.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.

The fatality takes Victoria's road toll to 193 .. 31 fewer than at the same time last year.
